Yes, it’s a small fortune but it is so totally gorgeous and amazing that I will wear and treasure it the rest of my life.

The price may seem high, but it’s custom created and you get a lot of jewelry for your money. Hanging from an 18-inch 14kt double gold-filled chain (with 2 inch extender) are three silver charms accented in 22kt gold. You choose the initial to place inside the tiny star, along with a birthstone to sit beside it. The winsome fleur di lis tag charm can be personalized on the back with a message of your choice. I picked the names of my two children. But other good options can include important dates or special nicknames. The third silver charm is a simple circle stamped in gold with the word ‘love’. You can also personalize a separate gemstone charm with the birthstone of your choice.

For the price I was expecting something spectacular, and that’s definitely what I got. In fact the website’s photo doesn’t even do it justice. It has a unique look because of the brushed silver paired with the sparkling gold. The eye-catching necklace garnered several compliments the first time I wore it. And it’s durable enough to withstand being yanked and pulled by my toddlers—always an important feature when it comes to jewelry. Although it’s a perfect gift for mothers, I think it would be ideal for a daughter turning 16 or even a wonderful friend. Nothing about it screams “mom necklace”— which is what drew me to it in the first place.
